- 1 Pair of polypropylene socks.
- 1 Pair of pants. Lightweight wool or synthetic pants will still
provide warmth if when wet. Cotton pants = cold when wet and hard
to dry.

weight "Capilene" are definitely the materials of choice.
- 1 Long underwear top. Same deal as for the bottoms. See above.
- 1 Synthetic pile jacket.
- 1 warm top (like Patagonia's "Expedition Weight" underwear).
- 1 Synthetic or wool toque. Best if not bulky so you can wear it
under a climbing helmet.
- 1 Pair of synthetic liner gloves. Lightweight gloves that can
be worn by themselves, or under a pair of insulated mitts.
- 1 Pair warm mittens (Synthetic or wool). A spare pair is optional.

will fit inside these.

Equipment you will need to supply:
- 1 One Litre "Nalgene" water bottle.

- 1 Tube of Zinc type lip protector.
- 35 - 40 Litre day climbing pack. A low profile and one that compresses
allows ease of movement for technical climbing.
- 1 Pair of sunglasses.
Recommended Optionals
- Camera & film.
- 1 Extra "Nalgene" water bottle.
- Plane Tickets, Bus Tickets, etc..
- Medical insurance documents. Make sure that these are packed in
a "Zip-Lok" bag to keep them dry and legible.
- Personal identification.
- Personal medications. Two sets, packaged in sun-proof containers
(see "Medical Info Form"). One set you will keep, and
the other set will be kept by your guide, just in case your set
gets misplaced. Make sure that your medications haven't expired.

spare pair, or contacts to act as a back-up should your regular
pair be broken or lost.
- Eyeglass retainer straps.
- 1 Pile Vest. Great for extra warmth or when a full jacket is too
warm, but underwear alone is not enough.
You may be thinking about buying your own equipment to get familiar
with during the course or perhaps you already have your own helmet,
ice axe, harness, or crampons that you would like to use. If you
are planning to be use some of your own equipment, please talk to
us before hand so we can determine its suitability.
Technical Equipment that we supply if you don't have your own:
- 1 Pair of crampons.
- 1 Crampon repair kit.
- 1 UIAA approved helmet.
- 1 UIAA approved sit harness.
- 2 technical ice tools with leash.
As you will be alternating between periods of heavy activity and
periods of relatively little physical expenditure, you'll want to
plan your clothing around a "layering" system.
Don't forget to bring a lunch for each day of your course. It's
a good idea to bring food that won't get "bent out of shape"
by a little rough treatment. If you're not familiar with the area
in which your course takes place, your guide will direct you to
the better restaurants and food stores for your other meal needs.
Your guide can also provide you with directions to a campsite, or
recommend one of the many motels or hotels in the area.
