INTRO TO ICE
This course is designed for those who have never strapped on a pair
or crampons or picked up an ice axe with the purpose of climbing
up a frozen band of water. Perhaps you are unsure whether you will
like this sport and would like just a taste before investing time
and money. Come and try with our professional and flexible staff

MIXED CLIMBING
This course is designed for people who have tried climbing
ice before and are ready to take on the challenge of Mixed
Climbing. It will teach you the peculiarities
of placing protection, setting-up anchors and moving over both ice

ESSENTIAL ICE
Tired of moving indoors for the winter? Extend your climbing season
with this course. And experience what this exciting winter sport
has to offer. As well as learning basic ice climbing techniques,
this course will assist you to develop first hand knowledge of the
equipment and systems specific to climbing short frozen waterfalls.

This course will further develop your ice-climbing ability. Hone
your techniques as you are coached from the more basic ascents to
longer ice classics. As well as improving movement skills, you will
learn how to set up systems, manage hazards and protect your climbing

Intro to Ice
COURSE CONTENT
This one-day course is for people who have never been ice climbing
before. It is designed not so much to teach skills, but to allow
you to experience this amazing sport without having to concentrate
on the technical aspects. However, you will learn such basics such
as:
· Review of basic top roping skills and equipment
· Fitting, walking and climbing in crampons
· How to hold, swing and remove ice tools.
· Movement on steep ice and tool placement strategies.
· Tips and tricks on staying warm.
This day does not prepare you for adventuring into the ice-climbing environment on your own but it does
allow you to discover whether you enjoy the sport enough to invest
further time.
This program is run at a maximum of a ratio 1 to 4.
WINTER 2006
LOCATIONS
Ice climbing requires cold temperatures, which can a bit hit and
miss on the Coast. While we always hope to run this course in the
Whistler to Pemberton corridor, the weather does not always cooperate.
In this case we have to make the longer drive up the Duffy Lake
road towards Lillooet. Normally we will confirm location 3
days in advance of course start.

Mixed Climbing
COURSE CONTENT
This one-day course is designed for people who have experience climbing
ice before and are ready to take on the challenge of Mixed
Climbing. The
course contains:
· Gear placement and strategies
· Anchors from a lead climber's perspective.
· Mock lead scenarios
· Feedback of leading techniques
· Lead climbing strategies
· Station management and descents
We provide all technical climbing equipment required to participate
in the course. The program is run at a 2 to 1 ratio.

Essential Ice
COURSE CONTENT
This 2-day course is a great choice for anyone who wants to experience
what this exciting winter sport has to offer. We lead you through
the very basics from how to walk with crampons and swing the tools
to setting up top roped ice climbs so that at the end of the course
you will be able to go ice-climbing independent of a guide. Some
rock climbing experience is helpful although not necessary. You
will learn:

· How to prepare, place and remove an ice screw.
· Constructing top rope anchors on ice.
· Preparing 'V-thread' anchors for rappels.

Solid Ice
COURSE CONTENT
As the winter equivalent of our Rock Solid program, our 5 day Solid
Ice course provides extended instruction to develop your ice climbing
ability and skills to their maximum potential. Hone techniques as
you're coached from the basics to ascents of longer ice classics.
This brings a host of new skills from route finding on pre-dawn
approaches, to managing multiple rappels down the route at the end
of the day. As well as achieving a radical improvement in movement
skills, you will learn how to apply protection, systems, and winter
hazard management to multi-pitch climbing steep frozen environment.
Great routes and timely instruction creates a complete progression
for the aspiring ice climber.
You will learn:

· How to prepare, place and remove an ice screw.
